Essential ERP modules for electronic retailers

Electronics retailers need reliable tools to manage stock, orders, and pricing. These are the modules doing most of that work.

Serial numbers decide who pays for the warranty claim.

How do we settle a warranty claim without arguing with the customer?

Every unit is tracked by its serial number from the day it arrives to the day it is sold. When a customer comes back, staff search the serial and see the sale date, the branch, the warranty terms and any earlier repair. The claim becomes a lookup instead of a negotiation.

Stage of the claimWhat staff needWhere it comes from
Customer arrives with a faultProof of sale and dateSerial lookup, no paper file

Repair or replaceParts availability and costStock position and the service ticket
Repeat fault on the same unitEarlier service historyTicket history on that serial

Our cost prices move every few weeks. How do we avoid selling at last month's margin?

Price lists and promotions are set centrally and applied across branches and the website at the same time. Because each sale posts against the real cost of the unit sold, the margin you see is the margin you got, not the one a price list assumed three weeks ago.

A customer wants a model this branch does not have. Then what?

Each branch holds its own stock position and transfers between branches are recorded as they happen. A salesperson can see the unit exists in another location and commit to it, which turns the sale into a delivery question instead of a lost customer.

  • Availability across branches

Staff see the group position, not only what is on the shelf behind them.

  • Recorded transfers

Stock moves with a document, so nothing disappears in the gap between two branches.

  • Committed against the order

A unit promised to a customer is tied to that sales order rather than sold twice.

What happens when a unit comes back faulty?

The return is recorded against the serial, so the history follows the unit. Staff can see whether this is a first fault or a repeat, whether it is inside warranty, and whether it should be repaired, replaced or sent back to the supplier. Stock and ledger both reflect the outcome.

How do we see slow stock before it becomes a write-off?

An item aging report shows how long each product has been sitting, and inventory valuation runs on average or landed cost so the number reflects what you actually paid. Slow models surface while a promotion can still move them, rather than after the replacement lands.

Which parts of Wizard do electronics retailers actually use?

Inventory and after-sales carry most of the weight, with sales, accounting and the e-commerce link behind them. All of them read and write the same records, so a repair booked by the service department is visible to the branch that sold the unit in the first place.

  • Inventory

Serial and batch tracking, stock per branch, reorder levels, aging and valuation.

  • After-sales

Service tickets, warranty terms per unit, labour and parts costed on each job.

  • Sales

Quotations, orders, credit limits for trade accounts, commission by salesperson.

  • Accounting

Cost of goods sold posted with each sale, supplier payables and VAT from the same records.

  • E-commerce integration

Website listings and stock drawn from the same catalogue the shops sell from.
