## What is the difference between accounting software and an ERP?

Accounting software records what already happened to your money. An ERP also runs the operations that produce those numbers. In Wizard, issuing an invoice reduces stock, updates the customer balance and posts to the ledger in one action, so finance and the warehouse never hold two different versions of the same week.

Read the detail

This is the whole reason companies move. A finance team using standalone accounting software spends the first week of every month turning operational activity into journal entries: pulling a stock report from one place, a sales list from another, and reconciling the two before anything can be signed off.

When the ledger is fed by the operations themselves, that work disappears. It does not get faster. It stops existing, because there is nothing to reconcile between systems that share one database.

| Month-end task | With separate tools | With Wizard |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Stock valuation | Export, adjust, re-key into the ledger | Already posted as goods moved |
| Revenue recognition | Rebuild from a sales export | Posted at the point of invoice |
| Bank reconciliation | Match statement lines by hand | Matched against existing records |
| Cost of goods sold | Calculated separately, often monthly | Posted with each sale |
| Intercompany or branch entries | Manual journals per branch | Recorded as the transfer happens |

## How does multi-currency accounting actually work here?

You can hold accounts, issue invoices and take payments in any currency. The exchange rate is applied at the moment of each transaction rather than at the end of the period, and revaluation runs against open balances at close. Reporting can be produced in your functional currency or any of the others.

Read the detail

For a business buying in dollars and selling in a mix of currencies, this is usually the reason the old system broke. Spreadsheet workarounds hold up until someone needs a comparative figure across two years and discovers the rate used was whatever the file happened to contain that day.

Because the rate is stored per transaction, the audit trail answers the question later. You can see what a sale was worth when it happened, not what it would be worth if you re-converted it today.

- ### Rates applied per transaction

Not a single monthly rate applied retrospectively to everything.
- ### Revaluation at period end

Open receivables and payables are revalued, with the gain or loss posted automatically.
- ### Reporting in any held currency

The same trial balance in USD or LBP without rebuilding it.

## How much faster does closing the month get?

Most of the work stops being data entry and becomes review. Recurring entries, depreciation and accruals post on schedule, bank lines are matched against records that already exist, and the trial balance is live rather than assembled. For most teams that moves a close from days to hours.

Read the detail

The honest caveat: how much faster depends entirely on how much of your operation is inside the system. A company running accounting in Wizard while stock still lives in Excel will see some of this benefit. A company running both will see all of it.

That is why almost nobody starts with accounting alone. Accounting plus inventory is the usual first step, because the inventory data is what makes the accounting stop needing manual work.

## What does it do about VAT?

VAT is calculated on transactions as they post, and the reports needed for filing are generated from the ledger rather than rebuilt separately in a spreadsheet. Because purchasing, sales and accounting share one database, the VAT position reflects what actually moved rather than what somebody remembered to enter.

Read the detail

Multi-currency and VAT interact badly in most systems, and it tends to surface at the worst moment. Here they are handled by the same ledger, so a foreign-currency purchase carries its VAT treatment without a second manual entry.

## Who in the business actually uses it?

The finance team lives in it daily. Everyone else touches it without realising: a salesperson issuing an invoice, a storekeeper receiving goods, a manager approving a purchase order. Each of those actions is an accounting entry, which is why the ledger stays current without the finance team chasing anyone.

- ### Finance manager

Period close, reconciliation, statutory reporting, cost centre analysis.
- ### General manager or owner

Live profit and loss, cash position and receivables ageing without asking for a report.
- ### Sales and warehouse

They post entries by doing their job, not by filling in a finance form afterwards.
- ### External auditor

A complete trail from source document to ledger entry, with the rate and user attached.

## What does it connect to inside Wizard?

Accounting sits underneath everything. Inventory posts stock movements and cost of goods sold, procurement posts supplier invoices and accruals, sales posts revenue and receivables, payroll posts salary cost by department, and fixed assets posts depreciation. None of it needs a bridge or an export.

Read the detail

This is the practical difference between an integrated ledger and an integration. An integration syncs two systems and can fail, lag or drift. There is nothing to sync here, because there is only one set of records.

## Connected to the rest of the system

The accounting module shares its data with other business functions, giving you a complete financial overview.

- ### [Inventory](https://wizardsolutions.net/inventory)

One stock position across every warehouse and branch, updated as goods actually move.
- ### [Payroll](https://wizardsolutions.net/payroll)

Payroll, attendance and end-of-service in one place, posting straight into the accounts.
- ### [Procurement](https://wizardsolutions.net/procurement)

Raise purchase orders, see what you last paid, and route approvals without an email chain.
- ### [Fixed Assets](https://wizardsolutions.net/fixed-assets)

Track what you own from purchase to disposal. Depreciation posts itself.

## Questions we get asked

If yours is not here, ask on the demo call. We would rather tell you it is not a fit than sell you the wrong thing.

[Ask us directly](https://wizardsolutions.net/contact)

- What is the difference between accounting software and an ERP?

Accounting software records what already happened to your money. An ERP also runs the operations that create those numbers. In Wizard, when a salesperson issues an invoice, stock comes down and the ledger updates in the same step, so your books and your warehouse never disagree.
- Can it handle more than one currency?

Yes. You can hold accounts, issue invoices and take payments in any currency, with exchange rates applied automatically at the time of the transaction. Revaluation runs on your accounts at period end, which matters for any business buying abroad and selling locally.
- How long does closing the month take?

Most of it runs on its own. Recurring entries, depreciation and accruals post automatically, and bank lines are matched against your records rather than keyed in by hand. What is left is review rather than data entry, so closing moves from days to hours for most teams.
- Is it VAT compliant in Lebanon?

Yes. VAT is calculated on transactions as they happen and the reports you need for filing are generated from the ledger, not rebuilt in a spreadsheet afterwards. If your business trades across borders, multi-currency and VAT work together rather than fighting each other.
